BEN'S BOOK

Ben's Book is an interactive application for children which revolves around bridging the gap between young and old as well as educating children.

Both children and parents can use the application within the museum which allows them to perform various activities together, both digital and in real life.

The goal is to improve the experience of the museum tour, strengthen the bond between children and (grand)parents and to educate children about the subjects within the museum.

The task that the client gave us was to make the museum tour experience more pleasurable for children and their parents while still obtaining all the information that the museum provided.

Together with a team I researched the subject and worked on the solution and concept. Our aim was to not alter the museum, but to add to its experience.

A part of our concept was to combine modern technology with exhibits in the museum to realise the concept and achieve the goal. The application would be available on a tablet provided by the museum and/or the smartphone of the visitors. Despite the use of modern technology, child-friendliness was an important aspect and thus taken into account.

Because of the application, every exhibit has its own activity that can be performed by the target audience connected to it. Both children and (grand)parents can assist each other in these activities while reliving the days of old.
